Recently Victor Conte, the founder of BALCO, shared his thoughts about testing program of anti-doping agencies and the current state of doping in sports.
Conte has noted that it is unlikely that the 2012 London Olympics would be free from application of steroids and other related products. The founder of BALCO confirmed in an interview that Olympic anti-doping testing policy had different flaws. So, consumers of steroids were also chosen to take part in the 2012 Olympic Games.
Conte doesn’t believe that intake of prohibited products has reduced. He doesn’t agree with individuals who affirm that low performance in various sports proves that steroids and other related medications are almost excluded from sports.
Conte notices that steroids are widely used now too. Efforts of anti-doping agencies led to adoption of athletes. So, athletes don’t use as increased dosages as have been administered before. Nevertheless, administration of steroids and other prohibited medications continues to be a problem.
Conte is sure that athletes don’t apply such designer steroids, as THG. Instead of applying such medications, sportspersons apply the steroid testosterone which is claimed to be the grandfather of all steroids. Victor Conte adds that since testosterone is fast-acting and it is available in form of creams, gels, patches and injections, it is widely administered by sportspeople. Moreover, not too high quantities of testosterone are needed in order to obtain dramatic results. This steroid is widespread among professional baseball players.
Conte criticizes anti-doping system. He claims that anti-doping agencies have evident ambiguities. Even a truck may go through loopholes which are in doping laws, according to the founder of BALCO.
