Ocular system doesn’t suffer because of inhaled steroids

Several recent studies connected with the inhaled corticosteroid budesonide have given to our society certain hope. This medicine has been administrated many times in order to cure kids that experience asthma. It has been stated that this medicine caused cataract in kids that used it. Several professors at the University of Southern Denmark in Holding have conducted a study to define reality of occurring cataract in the children that were cured with budesonide. There was no any cataract in 148 patients that were taking this inhaled steroid. Among those who didn’t have asthma and were not treated with budesonide 2 persons had cataract.  It was stated by the pediatric professor Soren Pedersen from the University of the Southern Denmark in Kolding. The doctor Soren Pederson and his colleagues have treated many patients who suffered from asthma with budesonide during over 2 decades. There was no any indication that this inhales steroid could lead to any dangerous side result. Children that were given budesonide didn’t experience any growth problems.
In the latest study 270 children with asthma were given budesonide; 62 children didn’t take budesonide because their parents feared of the results. Parents of those to whom budesonide was given reported that no any dangerous undesirable effect was observed in their children. 30 of those 62 children that were given the steroid budesonide felt benefits in the treatment of asthma.
The experts have defined that the risk of cataract for those that cure asthma with the inhaled steroid budesonide was 5 %.
Soren Pedersen noted that there was no any cataract or another adverse result connected with vision during over 15 years of his practice of curing children with the steroid budesonide.
Hyun Don Yun, MD, a resident in allergy and immunology at Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, has reported that these aspects have manifested that even long-time treatment with the steroid budesonide doesn’t cause any side consequence linked with vision system.
According to certain other studies, inhaled steroids have other influence on our systems in comparison with effects of other steroids.
